Job Description

The Control System Engineer will be responsible for the design, programming, and commissioning of control and automation systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), control system design, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and must be able to diagnose and resolve issues with various automated production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and modify existing equipment to meet safety, quality, and production requirements.
  • Manage and lead automation projects from concept through design and commissioning, ensuring timely delivery and technical accuracy.
  • Lead control system upgrades and support integration of new/existing equipment.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated production systems.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and repair/replace sensors, scanners, vision systems, motors, variable frequency drives, and encoders.
  • Troubleshoot automated production equipment using Studio 5000 programming software.
  • Create and modify operator interface screens using FactoryTalk View Studio and/or Ignition Designer.
  • Support control system upgrades and equipment integration efforts.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control circuits, and safety systems using electrical schematics and electronic test equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant codes and properly documented.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes, efficiency, quality and service.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and SLC platform controllers.
  • Programming experience using Rockwell Software Studio 5000.
  • Familiarity with FactoryTalk ME and/or SE, or similar client/server visualization systems.
  • Process control experience with traditional or modern DCS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and/or ABB variable-frequency AC drives.
  • Skilled in specifying, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, proximity sensors, etc.
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting flow meters, control valves, and other instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layouts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronic circuits.
  • Proficient in using Windows-based PCs, Microsoft Office applications, and virtual machines.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley servos and servo-controlled machinery is a plus.
  • Industrial networking knowledge is a plus, including familiarity with protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and Profinet.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service skills and solid commercial awareness.
